The library teen council is seeking teen volunteers age 12-18 to help create the council's first program for children, Sunday, Oct. 26, 4:30-6 p.m., at the Ashburn Library, 43316 Hay Road, Ashburn. Registration begins two weeks before the program. Sign up at library.loudoun.gov or call 703-737-8100.

Election officers are still needed for polling places in the Potomac District for the presidential election Nov. 4. Anyone who is interested, contact Dianna Price, secretary of the Electoral Board, at 703-777-0548 or by e-mail at dprice@loudoun.gov.

The polls open at 6 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. As an officer of election you must be at the polls from 5 a.m. until the polls close, the results are called in and all equipment is packed and ready to return to the Office of the General Registrar. Election officers may choose to work from 5 a.m. till the close of polls or may work from 5 a.m.-1:30 p.m. or from noon until the close of polls and all election records are completed.

The pay is $100 for the entire day, $50 for a half-day plus $20 for the training session. The training session deals with both general knowledge and setting up and using the machines in an election. Information about the training session will be sent prior to the elections.

There are currently opportunities for people to serve on Loudoun County and regional advisory boards, commmissions and committees.
