Morton J. Zeitlin, general partner of American Service Center in Arlington, Va., presented a $1,500 grant to Arlington County Public Schools.

Escuela Bolivia’s Saturday School will begin on Saturday Sept. 13 at Claremont Elementary School located at 4700 S. Chesterfield Road. Classes will run every Saturday from 9 a.m.-noon until Dec. 20. Registration for the Fall session will be held on Saturday Sept. 6 at Claremont Elementary School between 9 a.m.-noon. Registration can also be completed online at www.escuelabolivia.org. Tuition is $110 per student. Need-based scholarships are available.

Westfield State College is pleased to announce that Sarah E. Odachowski of Alexandria graduated from Westfield State College. Odachowski received a Bachelor of Science-Education in elementary education.

Three Arlington students were named Nationam Merit Semifinalists: David Sylvster, Leslie Bull and Alexander Matta.

APS and the School Health Bureau remind parents that flu season is fast approaching and that the Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommends a yearly flu shot for children ages six months through age 18 as the first and most important step in protecting against serious influenza infection. To get a flu shot parents should, ask their primary healthcare provider for a flu shot, or check any of the community resources listed below for flu clinics.
