To coincide with the Nov. 21 U.S. release of the teen vampire movie "Twilight," the Sterling Library is holding a "Twilight" Party, Thursday, Nov. 20, at 7 p.m. The movie is based on Stephenie Meyer's wildly popular books that appeal to teenage girls and young adult women. Her four books — "Twilight," "New Moon," "Eclipse," and "Breaking Dawn" — are to teens what Anne Rice's "Vampire" series are to adults, with more love story and less graphics and gore.

THE BOOKS have 17 million readers worldwide. And they have waiting lists of 50-100 people at the Sterling Library, said youth services librarian Anne Lee. So to capitalize on the popularity, she's inviting fans to the library to get excited about the movie opening. They'll play "Twilight" trivia, a "Twilight" Jeopardy game and talk about the characters. Also, there are free prize giveaways, movie tickets, posters, food and fun.

"Two of us on staff really love the series," said Lee, "And wanted the opportunity for people in the community who love the series to get together and have fun."

In the movie, the lead vampire Edward is played by Robert Pattinson, an unknown British actor who had a small part in "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire." The lead actress who plays Bella, his love interest, is Kristen Stewart.

"There's a lot of hype around it," Lee said. "I think people are really excited about the actors who are cast in it."

The Sterling Library is at 120 Enterprise St., Sterling. Registration is required. To register online, go to: www library.loudoun.gov or by phone at 703-430-9500.
