Are you planning you in the planning for your college future? Ashburn Volunteer Fire and Rescue has an opportunity to help you complete the "community participation" part of your college application. Come be an Explorer. Learn fire and safety procedures and have fun doing it. Young men and women between the ages of 14-17 are eligible to participate in this program. Come to the Ashburn Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department on any Wednesday night at 7 p.m.

The Loudoun Summer Music Fest is looking for volunteers for the 2008 season. People who want to listen to rock music, have fun and serve their community are encouraged to go to the series' Web site, www.liveatbelmont.com and sign up on the volunteer page.

Volunteers who work any concert get a free ticket for any other individual concert of their choice. This "work one, get one free" policy has resulted in many volunteers working half of the shows and attending the other half.

Loudoun Volunteer Services is seeking nominations for outstanding student volunteers, to be recognized as Student Volunteer of the Month. The qualifying student, or group of students, must be enrolled in Loudoun County public, private or home school, grades kindergarten through 12th grade. The Center for Multicultural Human Services is seeking volunteer mentors for our IPE Gang Intervention and Prevention Program throughout Northern Virginia. Mentors in this program are volunteers who provide youth with support, friendship, reinforcement and constructive example. Activities may include but are not limited to career exploration, life skills development, going to sports, entertainment or cultural events, or tutoring. The Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy (LWC), an all-volunteer nonprofit organization, is seeking volunteers to serve as leaders in its local community for the protection of wildlife and their natural habitats. Loudoun Volunteer Services is seeking volunteers to assist in emergencies. In the event of an emergency, Loudoun Volunteer Services is prepared to assist the Loudoun County Office of Emergency Management by coordinating volunteers. These are volunteers who are not currently affiliated with an organization and who are willing to assist with the emergency. Training will be conducted in February.
