The Arcola PTA is raising funds to build a playground at Arcola Elementary School, located within the Stone Ridge subdivision on Tall Cedars Parkway. Its goal is to raise $65,000 by Dec. 31 and will be holding a pancake and sausage breakfast at Arcola Elementary School cafeteria, a.k.a. "The Dragon Diner," on Saturday, May 10, from 8-11 a.m. Tickets are $4, and moms eat free.
In addition, the PTA will be holding a multiraffle with eight chances to win per ticket. Prizes include a Nintendo Wii System, $500 cash, three $150 cash prizes and three $100 gift cards. The Briar Woods High School Music Boosters Association will be hosting its second annual rummage sale Saturday, June 7, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m., rain date Sunday, June 8. Proceeds will benefit the music boosters, a parent/teacher organization that provides volunteer and financial support for the Briar Woods High School music programs.
The boosters are accepting donated items, which are tax-exempt; receipts available upon request. Items of interest include, but are not limited to, furniture — no torn or broken pieces, appliances, house wares, kitchen gadgets, electronics, toys, sports equipment, books, compact discs, DVDs, gently worn clothing, just to name a few.
