Mrs. Rever's three fifth-grade GT science classes at Keene Mill Elementary in Springfield spent the morning planting several bushes and lots of colorful flowers in the courtyard as an Earth Day project. For expert help, Gail Peterman, part owner of Hybla Valley Nurseries and Mrs. Rever's mother-in-law, Mrs. Rever, lent their expert advice on what plants were native to Virginia and needed to be placed where. The school’s business partner, ARC, donated money to buy some materials and Hybla Valley Nursery also donated some of the greenery. Some money went to the materials to build three birdhouses. The project’s focus was to create a backyard wildlife habitat.
