Terry Jones of Cruises Inc., a network of nearly 500 independent cruise-only travel professionals, announces that her agency has been inducted into Carnival Cruise Lines’ elite "Pinnacle Club." The program was created by the cruise line to acknowledge high-volume travel agencies that meet a certain sales criteria and exhibit excellence in promoting and selling the "Fun Ship" cruise experience
Christopher Pamboukian has joined Tetra Partnerships as vice president of their Retail Division on April 1. Tetra is expanding its retail operations and currently manages over a million square feet of office, retail and residential property.
Digicon Corporation, a leading IT services and solutions firm announced recently that they have moved their corporate headquarters to 510 Spring St., in Herndon to better serve the needs of their clients and to remain centrally located for staff. Digicon provides IT support services for federal, state, local government and commercial enterprise.
The Peterson Companies announced recently that three buildings on its Dulles Discovery campus in Herndon have been awarded certification by the U.S. Green Building Council under the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System. In order to achieve LEED certification, the 402,000 sf Dulles Discovery office complex was designed and constructed to emphasize five main areas of human and environmental health: sustainable site development, energy efficiency, water savings, materials selection, indoor environmental quality.
As a result, the campus buildings consume more than 20 percent less energy and 40 percent less water, provide healthier indoor work environments, and have less of an overall environmental impact than traditionally developed buildings of the same size and use. The three buildings compose the first phase of the 54-acre Dulles Discovery complex located on Route 28 near the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum. Dulles Discovery I Office Building earned LEED Silver certification while the Visitor Center and Central Plant each earned LEED Gold certification.
Eleven employees at Herndon-based EDS were recognized at the 2008 Black Engineer of the Year Awards Conference, held recently in Baltimore, Md. Nine employees supporting EDS’ U.S. government business and two EDS employees supporting non-government business were presented Modern Day Technology Leader awards.
The Modern Day Technology Leaders Award recognizes professionals of color who are shaping the future of engineering, science and technology through outstanding performance and achievements. William Baucom, project manager, EDS Navy Marine Corps Intranet, received an award in the Modern Day Technology Leaders category. Seven award recipients support EDS’ Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives business: Yukia Harris, quality assurance manager; Robert Holder, account executive; Horace Jamison, enterprise architecture-new technology manager; Renee Jones, software engineer manager/senior project analyst; Nathaniel Wayne Lewis, chief technology officer; David Payne, project analyst; Reba Reddish, technical organization manager. One award recipient is from EDS’ ExcellerateHRO organization, which provides human resources consulting and business process execution to clients around the globe: Dyke Simpson, application data architect. Two EDS employees who support General Motors business operations also received an award: Aaron Hart, information specialist and Kenneth Murray, information security analyst.
Additionally, Cozy Bailey, head of business relations, EDS U.S. Government and Public Sector, was recently selected by the editorial staff of U.S. Black Engineer & Information Technology magazine as one of the "Nation's Top Blacks in Technology." Bailey was also recognized at the conference, for his progressive leadership within EDS and for promoting access to technology.
Office Remedies, Inc., a Herndon-based survey research firm specializing in custom research studies and analysis projects, has been recognized as one of the 25 best woman-owned businesses for 2008 by Working Mother magazine. The company will be featured in the April issue of the publication.
Winners were selected from a competitive pool. ORI and the other award recipients were chosen based on criteria such as family-friendly benefits, entrepreneurial and community spirit, and company programs that help women advance. Each winning company will be profiled at the magazine’s Web site at www.workingmother.com. It also will highlight several of the best practices of ORI and other award recipients.
Herndon-based EDS announced today that David Hadsell, vice president and sales leader for EDS’ U.S. Government and Public Sector business, has been named a 2008 Federal Computer Week Federal 100 Award winner. This award recognizes 100 individuals from government, industry and academia who influenced how the U.S. federal government buys, uses or manages information technology during the 2007 calendar year. According to Federal Computer Week, Federal 100 winners are recognized for their risk-taking, vision and pioneering spirit in the federal IT community. Fed 100 Award winners will be formally recognized at the 19th Annual Fed 100 Awards Gala on March 24 in McLean.
