The 1872 Society held its sixteenth annual membership reception May 28, at the home of Joseph F. Viar Jr., chair of the Board of Trustees of the Inova Alexandria Hospital Foundation. The Julia Johns Award of Distinction was presented to Lorraine Tate Hensley.

The award was established to recognize and honor individuals who embody the same spirit as our hospital founder, Miss Julia Johns, and who have made a notable contribution to advancing health care for the Alexandria community.
