Barbara Ann Fogle Hatton, age 75, of Bluemont, Va., died June 30 at the Blue Ridge Hospice Residential Center in Winchester after a lengthy battle with lung cancer. Born March 8, 1933 in Alexandria, to Raymond E. and Annie L. Fogle, she spent her youth attending schools in Del Ray and Old Town and graduated from St. Mary's Academy. She devoted her early married years with Robert E. Hatton as a mother to Diane Lynn and Robert E. Hatton, Jr.After her youngest child entered school, she began her career with Air National Guard as a civilian. She served there for 41 years. She was solely responsible for the undergraduate flying training pipeline program for the Air National Guard. During her years with the Air National Guard, she received several "outstanding performance" awards.Her husband, Robert Edward Hatton, Sr. preceded her in death in December, 1979.
Surviving with her daughter, Diane Lynn Baskin of Clifton, and son, Robert E. Hatton, Jr. of Centreville, are two sisters, Gwen Hales of Bluemont, Va. and Gail R. Fogle or Manassas, Va.; and three grandchildren, Lindsey Baskin, Tommy Baskin, and Robert Baskin.
Funeral services were held Thursday, July 3 at St. Bridget's Chapel in the Field in Berryville with Rev. Stanley J. Krempa officiating.
