The Del Ray Artisans Spring Art Sale is scheduled for Saturday, May 3, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Spring Sale is held outside in Colasanto Park, adjacent to the gallery. This is a chance for all Artisans to show and market their work. Each participant gets a 10’ x 10’ space, and most use a tent, though it is not required. The fee is $35 plus a donation of 10 percent of sales; 15 percent with use of DRA credit card processing with a signed DRA contract. The Alexandria Commission for the Arts encourages the public to nominate Alexandria artists and art organizations for the Governor’s Awards for the Arts 2008. An exhibit by Civil War soldier, artist and musician William Lydston, Jr., will remain at Fort Ward Museum and Historic Site through Dec. 31, to coincide with a statewide celebration of music in Virginia. William Lydston, Jr., (1813-1881) was a talented professional artist and musician from Boston.
