At the T.C. Williams end-of-season banquet on Tuesday, head coach Ivan Thomas still brimmed about his junior point guard and how he “is the heart of the team.” If the last two weeks are any indication, Edward Jenkins is supplying his new Boo Williams Summer League (Converse Roster) with much of the same.
BWSL won the National Division tournament, edging the New Jersey Cyclones by two points in overtime of the semifinals before spanking the North Carolina Fire in the championship.
Jenkins comes off the bench of the predominant Hampton Roads-based roster, now on the team with many players he faced during the Titans’ state title run. In the semifinals, he scored 12 points and nearly sank the would-be game-winner.
Regarding his senior high teammates, there’s been little news on the recruiting front. Anthony Winbush has narrowed his final four to Loyola (Md.), East Carolina, UCF and Saint Louis, while Travis Berry visited Virginia Union on Wednesday.
Berry has also received interest from Radford and ECU, with Longwood reportedly close to offering.
Joshua Jordan is deciding between Division III schools Christopher Newport, Marymount and Mary Washington.
Javonta Campbell, who is still deciding whether to even play in college, is considering LaRoche (Pa.), Christopher Newport, Washington & Lee and Fairmont State (W.Va.).
