Falcons Landing will hold a special presentation by Mr. Gilbert P. Sherr, "The Memory Man," Tuesday, April 29, at 7:30 p.m., in the Falcons Landing auditorium, Algonkian Parkway between Potomac View Road and Cascades Parkway. Sherr has performed memory magic in more than 175 retirement communities and senior centers showing more than 10,000 participants above the age of 50 how they can improve their memory at any age. The 12th annual Nationwide Asthma Screening Program, sponsored by the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (ACAAI), will offer free asthma screenings for people with breathing problems and diagnosed asthmatics, May 3, from 8 a.m.-1 p.m., at South Riding Town Green, South Riding Boulevard and Center Street, South Riding.

During a screening, adults complete a 20-question Life Quality (LQ) Test developed by ACAAI for the program. Children under age 15 take a special test called the Kids’ Asthma Check that allows them to answer questions themselves about any breathing problems. Another version of the Check is available for parents of children up to 8 years of age to complete on their child’s behalf.

Participants also take a lung function test that involves blowing into a tube and meet with an allergist to determine if they should seek a thorough examination and diagnosis. Visit the ACAAI Web site at www.acaai.org.

The Greater Chesapeake and Potomac Blood Services Region of the American Red Cross is seeking blood donations, especially types O and B blood.
