Join thousands of volunteers in a multi-state effort to clean up the Potomac Watershed for the 20th annual clean-up, Saturday, April 5, 9 a.m.-noon. Several streams in Reston are sites where volunteers are needed: Snakeden Branch (Upper, near Hunters Woods Village Center); Snakeden Branch (Middle, near Glade Bank Way); Snakeden Branch (Lower, near Soapstone Road); Nature Center (Nature Center to Lake Audubon); Glade Stream (near campfire ring); Colvin Run (near Tall Oaks Shopping Center); Stevenage Road (behind the Home Depot); and Autumnwood Park (near Walnut Branch). Bring new meaning to going green by helping protect and encourage native plants at Invasive Plant Removal Day, set for Saturday, April 12. Join dozens of other volunteers at sites throughout the county as they endeavor to stop the spread of non-native invasive plants, considered by experts to be the second most serious threat to the quality of natural areas. Invasive Plant Removal Day will coordinate volunteer efforts at 14 parks including: Freedom Hill Park, Idylwood Park, Marie Butler Leven Preserve, Nottoway Park and McLean Hunt Estates Park.
Volunteers should wear clothes that can get dirty. Workdays generally begin at 9 a.m. and end in the early afternoon. Reservations are required. Reston Association seeking volunteers for two events Saturday, April 19, for 5K Fund Run, 8 a.m., and Earth Day Festival, 1 p.m. at the Walker Nature Education Center. Earth Day will start with a 5K Fund Run/Walk in the morning. In the afternoon the festival will feature musical performance, local non-profit organizations, educational displays, hands-on activities, service project planting, canoe and kayak rentals on Lake Audubon, a native

Herndon’s For Health and Balance’s massage therapy practice is merging with Reston-based Rejuvenations Massage Therapy in April. The massage practice will operate in the same building of For Health and Balance’s Herndon location under the Rejuvenations Massage Therapy name. The clinic will move 100 feet to a new suite: 297 Herndon Parkway, Suite 302. This will expand the clinic physically and, with the addition of new therapists, will expand the appointment availability. The corporate wellness division of For Health and Balance, including coaching, nutrition and fitness, will continue to operate under that name.
The Reston E-ZPass Customer Service Center at 2100 Reston Parkway closed permanently Friday, Feb. 29. E-ZPass customers can visit www.ezpassva.com or call 877-762-7824 for account assistance and relocation information until a new office opens later this spring. A temporary customer service center offering limited services recently opened at 21641 Beaumeade Circle, Suite 322, Ashburn. Customers can visit this location to open accounts, make payments and receive/exchange transponders, 8 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday through Friday.
