Lifestyle Weight Management Center of Tysons Corner opened recently. The center, at 2235 Cedar Lane, Suite 302, Vienna, offers patients Dr. Sanford Siegal’s Cookie Diet hunger-controlling foods as a part of their new weight loss and management program.

Under the medical direction of physician and weight loss expert Dr. Hazem Elariny, the Lifestyle Weight Management Center offers a medically-supervised weight reduction and weight maintenance program.

Dr. Siegal will attend the center’s official Grand Opening on Saturday, Sept. 8. The hours for the center are 8:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday to Friday and 9 a.m.-noon Saturday. Call 703-778-7878.

On Monday, Sept. 10, 5-6 p.m., Lewinsville Adult Day Health Care, 1609 Great Falls St., McLean, will host Barbara DeAngelis of the Alzheimer’s Association who will facilitate a presentation for caregivers on “Dementia: Helpful Insights Into Behaviors and Communication.” To register call 703-734-1718, 7 a.m.- 5:30 p.m.

The Alzheimer’s Association sponsors a caregiver support group at The Sylvestery at Vinson Hall the second Monday of each month. The next meeting will be Monday, Sept. 10, at 1 p.m. Caregiver support groups can help family and friends share their experiences, learn caregiving tips, and know where to turn for help. The 2007 Northern Virginia Senior Olympics will be held Sept. 15-27, marking its 25th anniversary. Participants must be 50 years of age as of Dec. 31, 2007 and reside in one of the sponsoring Northern Virginia jurisdictions. Among the events offered for competition are track and field, swimming, card games, shuffleboard, tennis, horseshoes, pickleball, basketball, board games, bowling and golf.
