Girl Scout Troop members based at Spring Hill Elementary School held an official ceremony last Thursday, Sept. 27, to present the Monarch Watch Waystation # 1236 Plaque. All Girl Scout Troops based at Spring Hill completed community service to the school by planning and planting a butterfly garden, all while following requirements needed for monarch migration. Scouts of all ages participated.
This conservation project provided collaboration between the local Girl Scouts and Spring Hill Elementary School’s science department. The garden is used for science lessons as well as for the enjoyment of the community. In addition, the garden increases food and host plant resources for pollinators and for monarch butterflies.
