Loudoun County high-school students experienced a computer glitch when they logged into the Pearson Educational Measurements Web site to begin their Standards of Learning (SOL) tests last week.
Ivy Allen, spokesperson for the schools, said 400 students were affected by the computer glitch.
However, the error occurred at the beginning of the exams. When students attempted to log in, their computer screens froze, preventing them from starting the tests.
LCPS officials said the computer glitch was due to a vendor problem. This is the second year the school system used Pearson Educational Measurements, the statewide bid winner to test all Virginia students.
The 400 students will retake their tests up during previously schedule make-up exam days. "The plan is to retest them in time to submit their scores with the rest of the students," Allen said. "None of the students' scores will be hampered."
