The McLean Citizens Association (MCA) Annual Membership meeting will be held at the McLean Community Center located at 1234 Ingleside Avenue on Thursday, May 24. There will be a brief business meeting at 7:30 p.m. with the presentation of the report of the McLean Citizens Foundation and the Election of Officers and Directors followed by a helicopter noise forum at 8 p.m.
U.S. Rep. Frank R. Wolf (R-10) will be represented in the meeting by his chief of staff and transportation expert. Wolf recently provided support and assistance to the MCA's initiative regarding McLean's aircraft noise problem generated by commercial airliners operating from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.
Following the forum, Tysons Land Use Task Force chair Clark Tyler will give an update on the Tysons Corner redevelopment program.
The Tysons Land Use Task Force, formed in 2005, has spent the last two years studying the various options for planning the future development of Tysons. The task force solicited input from the public in March of this year, and over the next few months, their work will be nearing a critical phase as three different models of Tysons are evaluated. These models will address both the density and the proportion of residential, office, retail and other mixed-use development. The models will also examine the impact of having daytime populations of Tysons ranging from 259,000 to 343,000 people. In November 2007, the task force will present its land use planning recommendations for Tysons to the Fairfax County Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors. Featured speaker, Tyler, was a charter member of the task force and has served as chairman for the past year. He will present the status and goals of the task force as they approach the November deadline.
