How real are Iran’s threats toward Israel? On Sunday, May 6, at 11:30 a.m., Congregation Beth Emeth of Herndon will present a program featuring The Israel Project, an international, non-profit organization, created to provide journalists with the most current and accurate news and information about the State of Israel.
This program is the last in a series offered by Beth Emeth to its members and the community about the political situation pertaining to Israel. The cost is $12 for members of Beth Emeth or any synagogue in the Western Fairfax/Eastern Loudoun Partnership and $18 for non-members. For more information, call 703-860-4515 ext. 127. In an effort to help Episcopalians orphaned after 11 Northern Virginia Episcopal churches aligned with the Convocation of Anglicans in North America, the Epiphany Episcopalians in Exile will host a meeting Monday, May 14, at the Community of Faith United Methodist Church, 13244 Franklin Farm Road in Herndon. There will be a potluck supper at 6:30 p.m. with the meeting starting at 7:15.
Speakers include The Right Rev. David Colin Jones, Suffragan Bishop of the Diocese of Virginia, and Patrick Getlein, Secretary of the Episcopal Diocese of Virginia. Jeffrey Goldberg, prize-winning Middle East correspondent and now Washington correspondent of The New Yorker, will speak on Wednesday, May 16, 8 p.m. at Northern Virginia Hebrew Congregation, 1441 Wiehle Ave., Reston, 703-437-7733. His topic will be “A Jew in the Land of Radical Islam.”
Goldberg has lived, reported and traveled in Israel, Egypt, Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Afghanistan and Pakistan for nearly 20 years. The lecture is part of the NVHC Speaker Series, which is free and open to the public.
