The United Christian Parish will hold several special services during Easter week, April 1-8, at its worship site at 11508 North Shore Drive, Reston. All are invited.
On Palm Sunday, April 1, church services will be held at 8:45 and 11 a.m. featuring a children’s palm parade. On Maundy Thursday, April 5, a 7:30 p.m. service will focus on communion, remembering the Last Supper. A Tenebrae Service will take place on Good Friday, April 6, at 7:30 p.m. Easter Sunday, April 8, will begin with an outdoor sunrise service at 6:30 a.m. led by the parish youth, followed by services at 8:45, 10 and 11:15 a.m. with special choral music, brass, bells and dance.

Holy Week at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church, at the corner of Van Buren and Spring Streets, begins on Palm Sunday, April 1 with services at 8, 9:30 and 11 a.m. All services for this day begin in the Parish Hall where palm branches will be blessed. Attendees will then proceed to the Sanctuary. All three services include a dramatic reading of the Passion Gospel.
St. Timothy’s will conduct its weekly Healing and Holy Eucharist service at 12:15 p.m. on Wednesday, April 4, followed by a Holy Eucharist service at 7:30 p.m. on Maundy Thursday, April 5. Reston Town Center became home to a local church earlier this month. The new Reston Community Church will hold sneak-preview services, open to the public, leading up to a grand opening Easter event at the Multiplex Cinemas on Sunday, April 8, at 10 a.m.
As a new church with no permanent facilities, Reston Community Church is able to use the movie theater on Sunday mornings, when no one is going to the movies. National Amusements, which runs the property, is joining hundreds of movie theaters across the country in opening its doors to new churches.

The 30th annual community Easter Sunrise Service, hosted by the Mount Vernon Rotary Club, will feature the Rev. Dr. Wollom Jensen, of Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mount Vernon, as speaker, and the music of Dan Doxzin, Minister of Music at St. Thomas a Becket Catholic Church in Reston. The event will be 7 a.m. Sunday, April 8, at the Mount Vernon Estate Circle, at the southern end of the George Washington Parkway. All are welcome.
The Church of the Good Shepherd, a United Methodist church in Vienna, has published its 8th annual Devotions for Lent booklet. The booklet of daily devotionals written by members and friends of the congregation will be available at Ash Wednesday and other church services during Lent, and more than 24,000 of the booklets are being distributed in Vienna and Reston.
