Volunteers were in and out of Mosby Woods Elementary Friday, March 2, reading stories to children in honor of Read Across America Day. Many volunteers donned tall, red and white hats as seen in the illustrations of Dr. Seuss' "The Cat in the Hat," since the national reading day also falls on the popular children's author's birthday.
Dr. Seuss books weren't the only words being read, though, as volunteers chose from a variety of children's books from the school library. The overall lesson of the day was simple: reading is fun. The students seemed to agree as their smiling faces listened attentively to storytellers throughout the day.
