Jerry Sun finished his sophomore year at Winston Churchill High School last Thursday. The next day, he was with his friends from the Potomac Glen neighborhood, at they stuffed the poolside fence with cups to spell out “Go Gators.” Summer swim season was less than 24 hours away.
Summer has officially arrived.
“All your friends from the neighborhood, you get to see them during the week and during practice,” Sun said.
On Saturday morning, Potomac Glen and 84 other teams in the Montgomery County Swim League dove into the summer swim season. The Gators hosted Old Georgetown. Nearly all MCSL teams are in a six-team division. In addition to five dual meets, all league teams participate in a divisional relay carnival and a divisional championship meet. For each of the five age groups, swimmers and relay teams that post a top 16 time in each event qualify for the All-Star Meet July 28-29.
