A 26-year-old Sterling man was a victim of a mob assault and destruction of property Thursday, June 14, according to the Sheriff's Office.
The victim was sitting in his car in the 800 block of
Brethour Court in Sterling when two suspects approached the vehicle and slashed his tires.
"It appears to be somewhat random," said Kraig Troxell, spokesperson for the Sheriff’s Office.
There was a woman involved in the incident, Troxell said. The assault might have erupted over a look exchanged between the woman and the victim.
When the victim later attempted to change his tire in the same location, the original two suspects returned with several other individuals and assaulted the victim.
The men were said to be carrying knives and other possible weapons. Two of the men were described as Hispanic males. One of the suspects was wearing a blue shirt and a white shirt and another suspect was wearing a black shirt, black pants and black shoes.
The victim declined medical treatment and the incident remains under investigation.
