Well — We sure have had a gorgeous summer so far. It feels like spring in July! Well, this weekend it did at least! I don’t mean to jinx it prematurely!
Thanks to all of you, young and old, who made it to Cinema Del Ray on Saturday night. The Mount Vernon Rec. Center field was hoppin’. Kids dancing, bubbles being blown, glow bracelets glowing, and just good old summer fun! I even met a family who had a 31-year-old Curious George stuffed animal! WOW! Very Cool!
Look for Cinema Del Ray to return again for its final appearance this summer on Saturday, Aug. 18 when we will watch the original Shrek! The movie starts at dusk but come early to grab your spot on the green and get in on the pre-show fun! Bring lawn chairs, red wagons, picnic blankets, whatever you want, but not the family dog, unfortunately. Fido must stay home and hold down the fort!
Congratulations go out in force to Justin Wilson who won the July 17 special election. Justin will fill the seat vacated by the now retired Andrew MacDonald. Justin and his wife Alex and son Eli and baby-on-the-way, were at Cinema Del Ray for some post-election relaxing right here in their hometown neighborhood of Del Ray! He will work hard for all of us to help make the City a better place to live, work and raise a family!
Mark your calendar now for the upcoming August events! First Thursday is Aug. 2 and National Night Out is Aug. 9. Both should be very fun events.
