Week In Great Falls

<sh> Neighborhood Watch

Leads to Arrest

<bt>Last week, an alert Neighborhood Watch volunteer called the Fairfax County Police about a suspicious person in the Windermere neighborhood in Great Falls, and subsequently helped lead officers to the arrest of Justin M. Desmoss, 20, of Francesville, Ind.

On Wednesday, July 11 at approximately 6:30 p.m., Fairfax County Police officers responded to the call and identified Desmoss and ascertained that he was soliciting without a license. Police said the suspect had collected several donations for a bogus baseball team. The locations solicited were: the 10000 block of Lake Windermere Drive (2 incidents), the 900 block of Welham Green Road and the 8000 block of Brook Road. Desmoss was arrested and transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. He was charged with larceny by false pretense.

<sh>Connection Online

Photo Galleries

<bt>The Connection has launched a new feature on the Connection Newspapers’ Web site, photo galleries. Every week, Connection photographers and reporters take hundreds of pictures at events around Northern Virginia and most often only one or two photos make it into print.

Now on the Connection Web site, readers can find many more photos from events. It is a work in progress, but photos from many events, including high school proms, graduations and community events are already posted.

Readers can e-mail the images to share them, and also have the opportunity to purchase prints, digital images or other items.

See www.ConnectionNewspapers.com, and click on “Connection Photo Galleries.”
