A fight outside of Pepe’s Mexican Restaurant in Sterling resulted in 10 arrests the morning of Sunday, July 8.
Jose Dilio Garcia, 21, of Sterling; Manuel A. Palacios, 30, of Sterling; Felix Lopez, 33, of Sterling; Esblin Ismael Ramirez, 32, of Herndon; Alejandronoe Matute, 21, of Sterling; Remberto Adonay Chavez, 28, of Sterling; Edwin Diaz-Ayala, 21, of Sterling; Fransisco Ramirez, 38, of Winchester; Jose J. Arevalo, 21, of Sterling and Sulman Villalta-Zelaya, 23, of Herndon, were all charged with malicious wounding by mob, according to the Sheriff's Office.
Deputies were called to the parking lot where the restaurant is located around 1:45 a.m. for a fight in progress. When deputies arrived, they saw a large group of men assaulting another male.
Kraig Troxell, spokesperson for the Sheriff’s Office, said it is not clear yet how the suspects knew the victim.
"The fight broke out because of some antagonizing between the victim and one of the suspects inside the restaurant," he said. "When the victim and his cousin left the restaurant, they were surrounded."
When deputies arrived at the scene, the suspects took off on foot. The deputies caught up to 10 suspects who were later apprehended. Nine of the suspects remain held without bond at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center. Chavez was released on bond earlier this week.
The victim suffered contusions and lacerations and was taken to the Lansdowne Campus of Inova Loudoun where he was treated and later released.
