A single-family, two story home at 9230 Davis Drive in the Lorton area of southeastern Fairfax County suffered an estimated $815,000 damage due to a fire on Sunday, July 1, according to Fairfax County Fire & Rescue Department. It took firefighters approximately one hour to bring the blaze under control.
Arriving at approximately 3:20 p.m., firefighters experienced heavy smoke and fire coming from the front and sides of the home. It quickly engulfed the entire structure in flames, according to Department public information personnel.
A second alarm was called in bringing more than 60 firefighters to the scene. They fought the fire from inside the dwelling until conditions became untenable for inside operations, according to the department. There was also a potential electrical hazard in the garage area that forced the firefighters to fight the blaze from outside.
No one was home at the time of the alarm. There were no injuries. The Red Cross is assisting the family of four. Cause of the fire remains under investigation.
