Robert F. DuPree (Dulles) was re-elected chairman of the School Board at its organizational meeting Tuesday, Jan. 2. DuPree was nominated by Mark Nuzacco (Catoctin) and elected 7-0-1-1, with Bob Ohneiser (Broad Run) abstaining and Joseph Guzman (Sugarland Run) absent.
The School Board re-elected Tom Reed (At Large) vice chairman 6-0-1-2 vote, with Ohneiser and J. Warren Geurin (Sterling) abstaining and Guzman absent.
The chairman said he anticipated some challenges in the New Year.
"We’ve seen what the budget issues are going to be," he said, "and we will have boundary issues to deal with. It’s also an election year and it will be a challenge for us to keep that out of the public business."
