Obituary: Leibach Buried In Pittsburgh, Pa.

On Feb. 20, 2007, Richard Leibach, 65, husband of Karen Leibach and a 20 year member of the Alexandria Planning Commission passed at away at his home in Alexandria. A week prior to his unexpected death, Leibach had been the guest of honor at a party given to celebrate his many years of volunteer service to the City of Alexandria.

Leibach was first appointed to the Planning Commission in January 1987. He served as vice chairman until 2006 when he relinquished that role to Commissioner John Komoroske. Leibach chose not to seek another appointment at the conclusion of his term in December 2006. During his last meeting, in January 2007, he was recognized for his many years of service with a proclamation from the City presented by Alexandria Mayor William D. Euille.

The son of Mary Leibach of Pittsburgh, PA, he is survived by, in addition to his wife, brothers, Joseph (Lee) of Frombell, PA, Dennis of Gibsonia, PA, and Kenneth of Pittsburgh, PA., one niece, four nephews, one grand niece and four grand nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Saturday, February 24. Interment was planned for Pittsburgh.
