<sh>Seeking Great Falls Authors
<bt>The Friends of the Great Falls Library Board is looking for local authors to participate in the second annual Local Authors Festival. This year's event will be held on Saturday April 21, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Great Falls Library. Four authors will be selected to talk for 20 minutes, and will be allowed to sell their books during refreshment time at the end of the program. <bt>Great Falls Animal Hospital will host a human and canine blood drive on Thursday, March 1. Great Falls Animal Hospital is located at 10125 Colvin Run Road. <sh>Newcomers Hosts Coffee
<bt>Newcomers of Great Falls offers all residents of Great Falls, new and not so new, an opportunity to establish a stronger connection to the Great Falls community through social activities, volunteer opportunities at community events, and philanthropic undertakings that benefit local charities. Newcomers of Great Falls will hold a New Member Coffee on Friday, March 9, at 9:30 a.m. The coffee will be held in a member's home, and is an opportunity for prospective and new members to learn about the club and to meet other residents of Great Falls. <sh>Fresh Eggs at Falls Hardware
<bt> Farm fresh eggs are available once again at Falls Hardware in Great Falls. The eggs come from cage-free hens fed with animal-free products. <sh>Philadelphia Flower Show Trip
<bt>The Great Falls Women's Club will be attending the Philadelphia Flower Show via bus on Tuesday, March 6. The bus will leave Great Falls at 8:45 a.m. and arrive in Philadelphia at noon. Enjoy lunch on one's own before visiting the Flower Show exhibition. <bt>Registration is currently open for the Baby Chicks class at Riverbend Park 's Nature Center. The 8-week class is open to children ages 9 months to 2 years. Introduce children to the sights and sounds of nature with a stroller/backpack ride through the woods. Puppets, songs and live critters will delight your youngster. Hiking shoes and sturdy big-wheeled strollers are recommended. Indoor exploration will be planned in inclement weather. Supply fee of $5 payable to instructor at first class. Through forest walks, nature talks, stories, insect collections art, youngsters develop a better understanding of the natural world. Parents, pack a blanket and a picnic lunch and enjoy summer by the riverside. Listen to a summertime story and do a nature activity. Work hands-on with wild salamanders, dragonflies, frogs, bluebirds, and more as you help with real scientific studies at the park. Record field data and handle wildlife as we work on a different research project each week. In inclement weather, we will learn about proper care for our exhibit animals.
