Teen Friday Nights for middle school students every Friday at the Herndon Community Center. The first meeting will be held Friday, Feb. 23, 8-10:30 p.m. Events include exclusive use of the Teen Room and Game Room. There will be room to dance and mingle with friends.

Tickets will be sold at Herndon Middle School the Thursday and Friday before; students must show school ID or have a parent present when purchasing admission at the door. $4 in advance and $5 at the door.

The Assistance League of Northern Virginia is a Herndon-based non-profit volunteer organization dedicated to promoting literacy and well-being through community based programs. The organization is hosting a raffle for which drawings will be held on Saturday, Feb. 24. The winner of the raffle will win a trip for two to the Masters Golf Tournament Finals. Prize package includes two passes to the event which will take place on April 7 and 8 in Augusta, Ga., as well as hotel and car rental accomodations. Tickets are on sale for $100. The Dulles Chapter of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association, NARFE, meets for lunch on Monday, Feb. 26, 11:30 a.m. at the Amphora Deluxe Diner, 1151 Elden St., Herndon.

Guest speaker Leon Harper, a consultant to builders/contractors, and remodelers, a housing professional, will provide information on “aging in place.” He will explain how to modify existing homes making them more accessible, safer and convenient, enhancing residents’ independence.
