The George Washington Birthday Classic 10-K Race and 2-K Fun Run benefiting the Alexandria Police Youth Camp will be held on Sat., February 17, 2007. Runners of all ages and abilities are welcome to participate in this first race of the season.
Beginning and ending at the AMC Hoffmann Center Theater at 206 Swamp Fox Rd., just steps from the Eisenhower Avenue Metro station, the 10-K officially starts at 8:30 a.m., followed by the 2-K Fun Run five minutes later.
The 10-K USATF certified race course travels along Eisenhower Valley and through Alexandria’s parklands (Cameron Run, Holmes Run and Ben Brenman Park). The race, which will be timed by Pacer Events, Inc., is part of the 2007 RacePacket Grand Prix Series.
If you’re considering running in the 10-K, the fee is $22 per runner (after Feb. 10 it is $25). The 2-K Fun Run fee is $10 for the first runner ($5 for each additional family member with a maximum entry fee for Fun Run is $20). Refreshments are also included and will be provided at after the race, near the finish line.

To register as a team, visit WashingtonBirthday.org for a form or complete one on race day. Entry fees are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law and are non-refundable. If a runner collects $100 in donations, the registration fee will be waived. Donation checks must be mailed-in with the registration form to the above address.
Prizes will be awarded to the top male and female runners in various age categories and all the results will be posted on WashingtonBirthday.org and RunPacers.com. The top three male and female finishers will each receive: $250 (1st place), $150 (2nd place) and $75 (3rd Place). The top two male and female finishers in the following age categories will each receive merchandise awards: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 and over. Property storage is available on race day. Please be sure to leave your headphones, dogs, in-line skates, bicycles or roller-blades at home—all are not permitted.
