The Arlington Commission for the Arts makes grants available to artists and arts organizations in Arlington. Applications are now available for projects and programs that will take place from July 1, 2007 – June 30, 2008. The deadline is Jan. 30, 2007. The Virginia Commission for the Arts announces a series of statewide grant workshops to be held in Jan. 17 – Feb. 6. Workshops will offer information about the grant award programs of the Virginia Commission for the Arts in preparation for the March 1, and April 2 application deadlines. Workshops are free and open to the public. Pre-registration is not required. Attendance at the workshop is not required in order to apply for funding from the Commission; however, it can be helpful in preparing requests for funding. The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority announces an art exhibit at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport featuring the work of artists from The Torpedo Factory Art Center in Old Town Alexandria. The exhibit is sponsored by The Friends of the Torpedo Factory Art Center, a non-profit membership organization that promotes awareness and appreciation of the visual arts through community outreach programs, exhibits and events in support of The Torpedo Factory. The exhibit runs through December and is located in the hallway between the old terminal and the new terminal.

Arlington Arts Center announces a call for entries for its juried all-media exhibition, "Equinox." It is open to all artists living or working in Virginia, D.C., Maryland, West Virginia, Deleware and Pennsylvania. Contemporary artworks in both 2-D and 3-D in any medium are eligible. There are no size restrictions, but the work must fit through a standard double doorway. Installations, video, and other technological works, performance and outdoor works are encouraged. Lee Arts Center houses open studios for artists working in ceramics and printmaking. The open studio program is designed for self-directed individuals working at advanced levels, who are expected to work independently and to help perform technical tasks and maintain studio equipment. The Master Workshop program provides an opportunity to interact with visiting master artists in workshops covering a wide variety of media.
