Susan Jane Stack of the Loudoun County Department of Family Services has been elected to the National Community Action Partnership board of directors. She will represent the group’s Region III, which includes Virginia Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Stack serves as the executive director of Loudoun’s Community Action Program (CAP.) Along with her colleague, Karen Velez, she has operated Loudoun’s public CAP since its inception in February of 2005.
La Voz of Loudoun has elected a new member to its board of directors, Samantha Villegas, manager of communications for the Loudoun County Sanitation Authority. Villegas, who has practiced environmental public relations for 15 years, holds a master’s degree in environmental policy from Johns Hopkins University.
Army Pvt. Jeremy P. Potvin has graduated from Basic Combat training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla.
During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission and received instruction and training exercises in drill and ceremonies, Army history, core values and traditions, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, rifle marksmanship, weapons use, map reading and land navigation, foot marches, armed and unarmed combat, and field maneuvers and tactics.
Potvin is the son of David Potvin of Sulgrave Court, Sterling, and brother of Rhoda Potvin of Sonesta Drive, Harlingen, Texas. The private is a 2007 graduate of Harlingen High School South.
An evening of entertainment showcased local arts groups at the annual membership meeting of the Loudoun Arts Council (LAC). Held at Lightfoot Restaurant, LAC directors held the yearly business meeting at which new board members were inducted, officers elected and members entertained with performances by Mission Impromptu, the Master Singers of Virginia, the Loudoun Symphony and the Loudoun Lyric Opera. New and returning officers included president, Kathy Farmer; vice president, Heather Stillings; secretary, Linda Ifert; treasurer, Cindy Lowther.
