<sh>Vinson Hall

Residents Honored

<bt>On Friday, Dec. 7, Capt. Walter E. Carter Jr., commanding officer of the aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson along with two senior officers was on hand during Vinson Hall’s Peal Harbor Day commemorative ceremony to present the Vinson Flag to RADM Kathleen Martin, CEO of Vinson Hall Retirement Community. Also honored during the ceremony were Vinson Hall residents Comm. and Mrs. Hart and Lt. Col. and Mrs. Indyke. Comm. Hart is a Pearl Harbor survivor and Lt. Col. Indyke was recently featured on WETA’s “Washington Homefront” regarding his role in Washington during the early days of WWII.

<sh>Buckley Speaks

At Potomac School

<bt>As part of its Distinguished Speakers Series, The Potomac School hosted Christopher Buckley, best-selling social and political satirist and editor-in-chief of Forbes FYI, on Wednesday, Dec. 5. Buckley provided a humorous perspective on current events and culture to an audience of Upper School students and guests.

The Distinguished Speakers Series has brought a host of individuals from a variety of backgrounds and fields to the school, including Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Carl Dennis, acclaimed female swordfish captain Linda Greenlaw, Broadway and film actress (and Potomac alum) Frances Sternhagen, and spokespeople for Save the Children and the International Rescue Committee.
