Madison High School Band will continue its annual Citrus & Pecan Truck Sale outside of Safeway in Vienna on Saturday, Dec. 8, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 9, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sales of the fresh Florida naval oranges, red grapefruit, sunburst tangerines, and Carolina pecan halves support the Madison band, the “Pride of Vienna.”
The third town meeting on the western county high school boundary study will be Wednesday, Dec. 19, 7:30 p.m. at Oakton High School, 2900 Sutton Road, Vienna.
Fairfax County Public Schools student journalists recently competed in Write-Off contests, sponsored by the Virginia Association of Journalism Teachers and Advisers. First-place winners included: LeeAnn Elias of Oakton High School, feature photo; Matt Johnson of Oakton High School, newspaper design; Tyler Herrinton of Oakton High School, sports photo.
More students were also cited for their work include: Connor Schmitz of Madison High School, second place for sports writing. Honorable mentions were awarded to the following students: Jill Burke of Oakton High School for caption writing; Ethan Doyle of Oakton High School for feature writing; Allison Ho of Oakton High School for poetry; and Emily Cole of Madison High School for sports writing.
