The Herndon High School Band will hold a carwash on Saturday, Aug. 18, to raise money to buy new concert uniforms. The students will work from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Elden Street Sunoco which is located at 640 Elden St., Herndon.

The Literacy Council of Northern Virginia is providing an English class for parents with school-aged children. Registration will be at Herndon Fortnightly Library on Wednesday, Sept. 12, 5:30-8 p.m. Child care will be available for children ages 2-12. Class begins Wednesday, Sept. 19 and end Dec. 12. Hours are 6:30-8:30 p.m.
