Continuing the Richmond Highway Facade Improvement Program, the International Center for Christian Ministries (ICCM) has begun construction of a new face on their building at 6401 Richmond Highway, according to the Southeast Fairfax Development Corporation.
Improvements to the property will include a new entrance way, canopy, signage, windows and copper trellis, according to Dr. Samuel Addy, ICCM representative. "The Facade Improvement program was an outstanding incentive for our ministry to not only make necessary improvements to the property but also enhance the building's appearance," Addy said.
"This will provide our parishioners with a beautiful facility in which to worship. We are keen on continuing with our commitment to contribute to the growth, development and beautification of the community along the Richmond Highway corridor," he said.
SFDC has been given the responsibility of administering the program by the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors. Thus far it has been responsible for over $1.2 million of private investment, according to Lara Fritts, executive director, SFDC.
Eligible participants can receive a 50-50 grant match up to $25,000 for building facade improvements. The program also includes free conceptual design services provided by a qualified architect who will work directly with the building owners. SFDC can also provide assistance in acquiring those professional services.
In addition to facade design and construction, improvements can include funding for signage, site access design, landscaping and other projects.
