Last year, the Friends of the Burke Centre Library and Supervisor Sharon Bulova (D-Braddock) created a time capsule task force. The task force’s mission is to gather interesting items to pack into a time capsule that will be placed in the wall at the new Burke Centre Library. The library is scheduled to open in 2008, and future Burke Centre library users would open the capsule 50 years later.
Local elementary school children wrote messages to the people who will be looking at the time capsule materials. They each wrote a personal message on bookmarks made out of construction paper. Most were anonymous, but a few children included their first names. Bulova’s office has collected several, and she said the messages “are so adorable.”
Here are a few:
“Dear Future, don’t try the burritos.”
