Thirteen years after Mark Ferris graduated from Landon, and more than seven years after he died of complications from juvenile diabetes, Landon and its community continue to honor Marks’ memory with a fundraiser 5-kilometer run.
Landon hosted the sixth annual Mark’s Run 5K, and raised $75,000 for the Joslin Diabetes Center at Harvard University. Proceeds from the race are divided between the Joslin Center and the Landon School Scholarship Fund.
Landon freshman Dalton Lamson of Chevy Chase was one of the many runners who shrugged off the rain and ran the 5K. "I am here because I have heard that Mark was a great person and it is important to support something like this," he said.
