Longfellow Middle School is offering a Teen Parenting class for parents of middle school students. The class provides specific strategies for dealing with the issues of adolescence. Topics included are: Parenting Styles, Goals of Misbehavior, Listening, Building Positive Relationships, Problem Solving, Conflict Resolution, and Natural and Logical Consequences. Class begins Thursday, April 12 and meets for six consecutive Thursdays, 7-9 p.m. at Longfellow, 2000 Westmoreland St., Falls Church. Cost of $20 covers the Step Teen Parenting Book. Bookworm Plantation will be hosting the Cooper Middle School Book Fair, which will be held Monday, April 16 through Friday, April 20, 7:10 a.m.-3:30 p.m. with extended hours on Monday and Thursday to 4:30 p.m. Every student will have a chance to win free books with a special drawing. Parent Volunteers receive 10 percent off. Part of the proceeds from this Book Fair will be used to establish an audio books area and a special reading area where students may read and study comfortably. Cooper will also set up a special book donation box for its sister school, Pine Springs Elementary School in Falls Church.
In accordance with the school's PTA Charter, the Langley High School PTSA By Laws have been revised and are now available for review by the general membership. The vote to accept the revised by laws will be held during the Principal's coffee on Tuesday, April 24 at 8:30 a.m. in the Langley Auditorium.
