Barktoberfest Celebrates Animals

Barktoberfest Provides Community Fun

The Friends of Homeless Animals will celebrate its fourth annual Barktoberfest Saturday, Sept. 30, from noon to 6 p.m.

Friends of Homeless Animals volunteer Tracey Mock invites residents and their leashed pets to Barktoberfest, which she described as a music festival, adoption event and fund-raiser, wrapped up in one event.

The event will feature nine live bands, including Mary Ann Redmond’s rhythm and blues band, the Beatles cover band Defaids, rock and roll band Evick, classic rock artist Gary Smallwood, funk and blues band Natural Born Easy, contemporary rock band Westpole and pop rock band Lucky Day.

Mock also highlighted games for children, including "Mutt Mutt Miniature Golf" and "Touchdown Football."

There will be cats and dogs available for adoption there.

The event is free, but Mock said donations are gladly accepted. All proceeds from the event will go to Friends of Homeless Animals, a nonprofit, no-kill animal rescue organization. That means no animal is killed, no matter how long they are without a home, Mocks said. For more information, visit www.foha.org.
