Fall for Fairfax Festival Offers Fun on Sept. 30

The 14th annual Fall for Fairfax, scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 30 at the Fairfax County Government Center, offers a full day of family-friendly activities and entertainment. Admission and entertainment are free.

The event emphasizes interactive exhibits focusing on education, health, fitness, safety, and environmental activities. With more than 100 exhibits, activities, performances and demonstrations, there’s plenty to keep the whole family busy.

Among the outstanding programs:

* The Inova Arcade of Health, with interactive health-related activities.

* Pumpkin painting at the Whole Foods Pumpkin Patch, and a Farmer’s Market full of fresh fruits, vegetables and treats.

* The KidZone, comprised of six inflatable obstacle courses, slides and moon bounces. For a $5 fee, kids can use all six attractions all day as often as they wish.

* The Stanley Martin Train Rides, hay rides and face painting.

* Entertainment on the Cox Community Stage, featuring music and dance performances; and also on the Cigna KidStage, which features the best in children’s entertainment.

* Model train displays provide by the National Capital Trackers and Train Depot.

* WAMALUG (Washington DC Metropolitan Area LEGO Users Group) LEGO Construction site.

* Pony Rides and a Petting Zoo.

* Public safety exhibits from the Fairfax County Police and Fire and Rescue Departments.

* Exhibitors featuring local non-profit organizations and Fairfax County agencies.

There is no admission fee; however minimal charges do apply for some activities. Food and beverage may be purchased at the festival's food court as well.
