A Sterling man was apprehended late Thursday night for his involvement in an assault that occurred last week outside a Sterling restaurant.
According to the Sheriff's Office, Inocente Dionicio-Gama, 27, is charged with malicious wounding. The Sheriff's Office alleges he assaulted a 24-year-old man in the early morning of Oct. 12 outside of Zazaa Restaurant in Sterling's Regal Plaza.
THE VICTIM, Dionicio-Gama and another suspect were asked to leave the restaurant after they got into an argument inside the bar area, according to the Sheriff's Office.
"There hasn't been any indication the fight was gang related," Kraig Troxell, Loudoun County Sheriff's Office, spokesperson, said. "The dispute began over a beer or something to that effect."
The victim allegedly struck one of the two suspects in the parking lot and then was assaulted with a tire iron, according to Troxell.
ÒHe had lacerations on his face,Ó Troxell said.
The suspects fled the scene, possibly in an older blue Dodge Neon. Witnesses say the vehicle may have struck the victim as it left the scene.
ÒWe believe he was struck by the car,Ó Troxell said. "We don't know the extent of it."
The victim, who was taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital Thursday, Oct. 12, has been released. His most severe injury, Troxell said, was a head wound from the tire iron.
DIONICIO-GAMA is being held without bond at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center.
