Amanda Kirby of Potomac, a sociology and advertising major in The College of Arts and Science and the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University, has been named a Remembrance Scholar. The scholarship, among the most prestigious scholarships awarded by the University, was founded as tribute to and means of remembrance for the 270 people who were killed in the Dec. 21, 1988, bombing of Pan Am Flight 103. Thirty-five SU students were aboard the flight, returning to the United States from a semester of study abroad.
Rebecca Baden, a Rockville senior majoring in political science and public relations in the College of Arts and Sciences at Syracuse University, was named to the dean’s list for the Spring 2006 semester. To qualify for the dean’s list, students must have achieved at least a 3.4 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) during the semester.
