In early December, the City Hall expansion and new police station are scheduled to open. The $20 million project will add about 63,000 square feet of new space, and will renovate nearly 30,000 square feet of space in the existing City Hall building. City departments can start moving into their new offices as early as December, while the departments in the older City Hall building will temporarily relocate to the John C. Wood Municipal Complex while City Hall is renovated. Once the renovations are completed, the John C. Wood building will be demolished to make room for parking at the new police station directly behind it. Both new buildings have several finishing touches that remain, but they should be complete by December. Maj. Bill Klugh, of the city police, said the department is excited about the new building because they will have a lot more room and more technology.
