Ashlawn Elmentary School students shunned the bus last Wednesday and flocked to school on their feet and bikes to celebrated national "Walk to School" month.
More than 75 students walked or biked from their houses to the school, where they were met by Principal Edgar Miranda, Superintendent Robert Smith, School Board Chair Mary Hynes and School Board members Ed Fendley and Frank Wilson.
Smith encouraged the students to continue walking to the school in the coming weeks, and said the large turnout showed Ashlawn’s "commitment to healthy living and learning."
