Here is a list of events surrounding the Scottish Christmas Walk 2006. Please note that all activities are held at The Campagna Center, 418 South Washington St., unless otherwise stated.
<ro>A Christmas Marketplace
<lst>Vendors sell holiday gift wares in a boutique setting on Thursday, Nov. 30 from noon- 5 p.m.; Friday, Dec. 1 from 10 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (and from 7:00 - 10:30 p.m. for Taste of Scotland guests only); Saturday, Dec. 2 from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. The holiday Heather and Greens sales will also be held during these times.
<ro>Children's Tea Party
<lst>This new event features Alexandria children's author Leslie Young, accompanied by the main character in her books, Plaid the Scottie dog. She will read from "Plaid: A Tale of Compassion" and "Plaid: A Tale of Joy," and children can have their picture taken with the dog.
The tea is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 30 from 3:30 - 5:00 p.m. Cost is $25 for one adult and child; $10 for each additional ticket.
<ro>Taste of Scotland
<lst>A Tasting featuring hard-to-find, rare scotches direct from Scotland distilleries. Attended by nearly 500 guests, including the Lord Provost of Dundee, Scotland. It is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 1, from 7 - 8 p.m. for "patrons" only and from 8 - 10:30 p.m. for "patrons" and regular ticket holders. Advance tickets — $125 for patrons, $75 for regular tickets — are required. Call 703-549-0111 for tickets.
<ro>The Scottish Christmas Walk Parade
<lst>Over 100 Scottish Clans, pipe and drum bands, Scottish dancers, re-enactment groups, Scottie dog groups, dignitaries and Santa Claus march down the streets of Old Town. The parade, scheduled rain or shine for Saturday, Dec. 2 at 10:30 a.m., begins at the corner of Wilkes and South Pitt Streets in Old Town and ends at The Campagna Center.
<ro>The Holiday Designer Tour of Homes
<lst>Six historic homes are dressed up for the holidays by acclaimed interior designers and local florists. Tours will be held on Saturday, Dec. 2 from 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Advance purchase tickets are $25, day-of tickets are $30. Call 703-549-0111 or stop by The Campagna Center for tickets.
