Tuesday, Dec. 5, William R. Stott will conduct a presentation on “The Saint John’s Bible”, 7:30-9 p.m. in the DeSales Chapel at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 11900 Lawyers Road, Reston. A major artistic, cultural, and spiritual endeavor, it is the first handwritten, hand-illuminated Bible commissioned since the printing press was invented five centuries ago. The Gospels and Acts, Pentateuch, and Psalms are on display until Dec. 15 at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. For more information call the Parish Office at 703-860-8510.
Christmas Program and Dinner at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 17 at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 10550 Georgetown Pike, Great Falls. The program begins with a performance by the King’s Chimers, playing “O Come, All Ye Faithful”, followed by a short play titled “Away From the Manger,” a humorous look at everyone who didn’t make it to the stable in Bethlehem to see the baby Jesus.
While the actors and crew prepare for the final segment of the program, enjoy a violin duet of “The First Noël”, played by Emily and Andrea Sweet. The final presentation will be Scripture readings and Christmas carols accompanied by a Nativity tableau. The program closes with the congregation joining the Chorus in “Go, Tell It On The Mountain”. After the program, everyone is invited to dinner in the Fellowship Hall. Freewill donations will be accepted to help fund youth mission trips in summer 2007. Call 703-759-6068.
