Joy Trickett of Herndon received a commendation from this year's General Assembly for her work to help to alleviate homelessness and poverty in Northern Virginia. She received the award from state Del. Thomas Davis Rust (R-86), May 9, at the Herndon Town Hall.
Trickett was honored by the General Assembly's passing of House Joint Resolution No. 316. Individuals are nominated for this award based on efforts that are considered to be of local, state or national significance. In the resolution, the House of Delegates along with the Senate extended its gratitude and commended her for valuable service and devotion to the citizens of Loudoun County and Northern Virginia.
Trickett volunteers as board chairman with the Good Shepherd Alliance in Leesburg. She is a past president of LINK in Sterling, a deacon chair for the Dranesville Church of the Brethren, and a member of the Great Falls Ecumenical Council.
Rust nominated Trickett, saying that she has "performed a great volunteer leadership role in networking many nonprofit agencies to work together, consolidating resources and assisting many hundreds, if not thousands, of people in need."
