Family information: Wife Pam, daughters Erin and Julie, granddaughter Sarah.
How would you describe yourself? I would describe myself as a businessperson who is thankful to his community for helping with my successes. I express my thanks by giving back to my community in any way I can.
Education? My formal education was limited to a part time student at Northern Virginia Community College. I have been self educated in many areas of business including payroll, accounting, budgeting, lead generation, networking, sales, regulations (local, state and federal), employee benefits, employee relations and psychology. I am an avid student of self improvement and motivational studies.
Current job? For nearly 30 years I have been the founder/owner/manager of All Star Movers.
What do you hope to accomplish with the Vienna Tyson's Chamber of Commerce? My goal as chairman of Vienna-Tysons Regional Chamber of Commerce is for the Chamber to continue to be an important link between the community of Vienna and the local businesses. As a Chamber we need to sustain growth in order to provide community activities, networking, marketing, support, education and political representation.
What is your favorite part of your job as a chairman?
The favorite part of the Chamber is to see how members who take advantage of all the Chamber programs, are able to develop and grow their businesses. Besides being the Chairman of VTRCC, I am also a Board member of Gov. Kaine's Small Business Advisory Board, Board Member TysonÃs Task Force, Mentor in the Fairfax County Be-Friend Program (similar to Big Brother) and a Team Leader for The
American Cancer Society Relay for Life.
What are your favorite places in Vienna? My favorite places and events in Vienna are: Wolf Trap, Vienna Presbyterian Church, Madison High School Athletic Events, Vienna Inn, Rexall, Avivo and of course the annual events such as Viva Vienna, joint Good Friday Service with First Baptist and the Halloween parade.
If I were King of Vienna everyone would ... purchase products and services from Vienna-Tyson's merchants.
What would you change about your community?
One thing I would change in Vienna would be all unsightly telephone poles and wires would be underground in the business district.
Favorite book?
I strongly recommend the Bible for great reading.
Favorite movie? My two favorite movies in the last year: "Wedding Crashers" and "Hotel Rwanda."
Favorite TV-shows? I enjoy Reality TV i.e. "Survivor" and "American Idol."
Hobbies? My hobbies include: golf, singing and piano.
Favorite vacations? I love vacations in Maine!
How would you like to spend a day? Any day spent with my wife Pam, is a great day.
Favorite quotation? I love a quote I recently heard from Tim Kaine, "I am a uniter not a divider"
If you could be someone else, who would you be? If I could be anyone, I would be a young Joe Gibbs.
If you could meet anyone you wanted? Being a direct descendant of the Mayflower, I would most want to meet my great (12 times) grandfather John Alden and Priscilla Mullens.
